Stockstock is over! It went very well. We had a great crowd, everyone enjoyed themselves, and I didn't completely embarass myself during my opening remarks. We were also very happy that Rick Prelinger of Prelinger Archives came to see the show. We got our footage from his archive, so he's kind of the patron saint of Stockstock. He seemed to love the show, and he's probably going to let us put some of the films onto the archive.org site. We haven't worked out the details yet, but I'll let you know what happens.
Oh, and the film that feng and I made went over very well. It went over well with me, at least. I've seen it one million times, and I was still chuckling as I sat in the audience. This is very rare for me, becuase I never like my own work. It's rare that I can admit to even having made something, much less be pleased enough to actually enjoy watching it. Does that mean that it's actually good, or that I'm just becoming more vain?
At any rate, Stockstock was a great success. It was a lot of hard work, though, and I now find myself approaching my newly-acquired leisure time with zest and vigor. The problem is that I'm so eager to relax and do all of the things I've been putting off that I'm trying to do them all at once. I spent Monday night on the couch snoozing, but since then I've made plans to see a movie, play in two RPG sessions, assemble a couple of DVDs, go to a BBQ, send my old computer to my mom, spend a day shooting pictures, attend book club, host a movie night, attend film club, paint my den, start learning French, shoot some 8mm motion picture tests, help shoot a short film, and help shoot a wedding video. Stockstock has only been over for three days, and I've already filled up the next two weeks!
Once this flurry of activity dies down I will make time to focus on my real goals for the next few months, for I have declared this The Summer of Photography. This summer I've vowed to complete all of the photo-related tasks I've been putting off for so long. By the time October 1 rolls around, I aim to have an easy-to-use system for organizing my photographs, a decent online photo site, and a working digital darkroom. I also vow to shoot an average of 75 photos per week. Stay tuned to see how much of this I accomplish. I'm counting on you guys to keep me honest.
In other relaxation-related news, I am taking tomorrow off. Woo hoo! I saw that it is going to be 86 degrees outside, and I immediately blocked Friday off on my calendar. I am gone, baby! What I really want to do, deep down inside, is go buy an XBox and play the Matrix game for 12 straight hours, but I am forcing myself to go outside. I may end up doing a lot of reading in the sun, or m@ and I may do something photographic in nature. We shall see.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that The Quistiltons have a new blog! They've had a proto-blog for a while, but they've now made it official. Tune in regularly to enjoy the adventures of Linnie, Charles, and their adorable daughter, Baby Skull.
