I am OLD. My back is killing me, presumably as a result of sitting in a recliner for three straight days at The Madness. None of the chairs I own is any good for my back, so I alternate between laying on the floor watching basketball and sitting in this desk chair complaining loudly. My neighbors have been treated to a barrage of "Dude!" and "Oh man..." and other such whiny exclamations all evening.
Another indication of how old I am is the fact that I'm spending Friday night at home by myself. I wanted to go out and do something fun, but I just have too much to do, namely making some changes to the Stockstock web site and making more Stockstock tapes. Stockstock is a lot of fun, but I will be glad when it's over and I can have some of my free time back. I have tons of photo projects I want to work on, but I just don't have the bandwidth at the moment.
One of these projects will be working with the camera I just ordered yesterday. Actually, it's not a camera - it's a Polaroid back for my Holga, lovingly dubbed the Holgaroid. It gives you all of the quirkiness of the Holga exposed instantly on medium-format 80-series Polaroid film. I have absolutely no idea how the pictures are going to come out, but I'm excited to try it. It should arrive next week. And because the images are positives, I can scan them and post them here. Stay tuned...

Hello all. I have returned from The Madness. I meant to post a recap when I got back, but I've been too busy pursuing my new hobby - sleeping. I am SO excited about it. I've always had a passing interest in the field, but all of the travel and late nights over the weekend has really turned me into a sleep enthusiast. Now it's the first thing I think about when I wake up in the morning, and it's the first thing I do when I walk in the door after work. Lately I've even been practicing a little at the office when I have some down time. I know we're not supposed to work on personal projects during office hours, but I just can't help myself! There's nothing better than having a hobby you love!
I took some time out from my new endeavor on Sunday to watch the Oscars. As usual, it was a miscarriage of justice. The best picture (Far From Heaven), the best actor (Daniel Day-Lewis), and the best actress (Julianne Moore in Far From Heaven) all went unrecognized. The only good news was that Spirited AWay won the Best Animated Feature award. I never in a million years thought that it would win, but I am completely delighted. It almost makes up for my disgust about the other awards. Every year I tell myself I won't get worked up about the know-nothing Academy, and every year I do it anyway. I never learn.
